EEAI is proud to be the state affiliate of the North American Association for Environmental Education.  Their work with the National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education lead to the development of Guidelines for Excellence, which positively influence EE programs at the smallest nature centers all the way to graduate university programs.

"Through the National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education, NAAEE is taking the lead in establishing guidelines for the development of balanced, scientifically accurate, and comprehensive environmental education programs and materials. Quality environmental education programs help develop an environmentally literate citizenry that can compete in our global economy;
has the skills, knowledge, and inclinations to make well-informed choices;
and exercises the rights and responsibilities of members of a community."

Curriculum

Currently, six sets of guidelines are available in the following areas: K-12 Learning, EE Materials, Preparation & Professional Development, Nonformal EE Programs, Early Childhood EE Programs, and Community Engagement.  ​

Host a Training/Find a Facilitator

EEAI maintains a network of faciliators all throughout Illinois that can lead workshops on the NAAEE Guidelines for Excellence. Attending a workshop greatly enhances the level of understanding and ability to implement the Guidelines. 

If you are interested in scheduling a workshop near you please reach out to the EEAI Projects Coordinator at eeaiprojects@gmail.com.
